About the Principal Investigator.....
Prasad Tammineni, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Animal Biology at the University of Hyderabad. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Hyderabad, supported by a CSIR fellowship, where he investigated the mechanistic details of STAT3 transport to mitochondria and its non-canonical roles in redox homeostasis. He then moved to Rutgers University (USA) for postdoctoral research, studying endo-lysosomal trafficking and autophagy regulation in Alzheimer’s disease using transgenic mouse models and advanced imaging techniques. Following this, he joined MIT (USA) as a Picower Research Fellow, where he explored mechanisms of synaptic plasticity in neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric disorders.
Dr. Tammineni now leads the Molecular Neurosciences Lab at UoH, where his group investigates the molecular mechanisms of membrane trafficking and the regulation of organelle and protein quality control in neuronal health and disease.

The Team
The Neurobuds....

Mitali Biswas
Graduate Student
Mitali is graduate student, with DBT-JRF fellowship, joined the lab in 2020. She finished her Master's in Zoology from University of Delhi before joining us. In Tammineni lab, she is investigating how lysosomal quality control mechanisms are orchestrated in neurons. Besides, she would like to sing, draw and read the books.

Anusruti Sabui
Graduate Student
Anusruti is a CSIR- UGC fellow, pursuing PhD from Tammineni Lab. She completed her Master's in Biotechnology from University of Hyderabad, before joining Tammineni lab in 2020. As a PhD student, she is trying to understand to understand the crosstalk between lysosomal dysfunction and disease propagation in Proteinopathies. Outside of work, she enjoys playing badminton, reading storybooks and gardening.

Vigneshwar Reddy
Graduate Student
Vignesh is a CSIR-JRF fellow, investigating the cytoskeleton remodeling during structural plasticity of neurons. He finished his Master's in Genetics from Osmania University, Hyderabad and joined Tammineni lab for PhD in 2021. When not on bench, Vignesh likes reading books, especially non-fiction
ones.

Shanmuga Priya
Graduate Student
Shanmuga Priya is a BSSR fellow, interested in understanding how lysosomal function is linked to neuro inflammatory pathways. She did her Master's from SRM College and was working in pharma-industry before joining the lab in 2022

Siva Palepu
Graduate Student
Siva is a DST-INSPIRE JRF fellow joined in 2022, trying to understand the pathophysiological function of Synuclein proteins with a special emphasis on their role in endolysosomal pathways. He did his Master's from IGNTU, Amarakantak

Balu
Lab attendant/manager
Balu takes care of lab chores including purchase.

Kanthi
Junior Research Fellow
Kanthi is a Project Junior Research Fellow (JRF) funded by ICMR, working on lysosomal quality control using Drosophila as a model system. She completed her Master’s degree from IISER Tirupati.
